PHOTOS: Police storms Kano government lodge in Abuja, holds five nPDP governors hostage

Police detain GovsA detachment of police officers, led by the DPO of Asokoro police division today stormed the Kano State Government Lodge in Abuja and held at least 5 factional PDP governors as well as others hostage.

According to SaharaReporters, five trapped governors are members of the splinter faction of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) who have refused to accept Bamanga Tukur as their chairman.

It was reported that there was initial tension when the security aides of the governors had denied to the DPO and his team entrance.

Former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has explained why he contested the 2007 presidential elections. According to Atiku, he ran for the office of the president to preserve the sanctity of the nation’s democracy. The Turaki Adamawa in a statement issued on Sunday noted that he will never allow another despot to preside over the affairs of the country again. Atiku said after his first term as Vice President, he was faced with a fundamental question of remaining loyal to his boss, Obasanjo and the party or the constitution and democracy. North will allow power shift to South if David West is picked as president – Ango Abdullahi

Spokesman of the Northern Elders Forum, NEF, Prof. Ango Abdullahi Sunday affirmed that the north would allow another Southerner in the person of former petroleum Minister, Tam David West to emerge as the president only if he is anointed for the 2015 presidential race. He gave this condition while speaking on a Kaduna based Liberty Radio programme, Guest of the Week.
