Elders are the problem of Nigeria – Senate President, David Mark

Senate President, David Mark, has stated that the problem of Nigeria lies with the elders.
Mark made this declaration based on a motion moved by the Deputy Senate Leader, Abdul Ningi (Bauchi Central) while congratulating Nigeria on the success of the Golden Eaglets at the just concluded Under 17 World Cup.
According to him, the country had all the needed talents to be great, but that what was required is for such talents to be exploited irrespective of what parts of the country it comes from.
He recalled that when the Golden Eaglets were playing their matches, geographical origin of each player did not matter to them, but rather the skills each came with.
He said that the youth in them didn’t allow them to discriminate but that they played like true and patriotic Nigerians, united in their quest to do their best for the country.

In addition, Mark said the victory of the Golden Eaglets and the consistent tempo of patriotism they displayed in all the matches should serve as a lesson to the Super Eagles in their quest to qualify for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
Senator Bukar Abba (Yobe, East), who was a former committee member of the Senate Committee on Sports, said even though he is happy with the victory of the Golden Eaglets, their victory had shown the attention being accorded football at the expense of others, saying other sports, when fully attended to, would bring more glory to the country.

The Senate, however, resolved to urge the Ministry of Sports and the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to immediately set in motion a programme of training that will lead to the ultimate transformation of the victorious Golden Eaglets to a formidable Super Eagles.
