N255m cars scandal: Police re-arrest Dino Melaye
Barely
two weeks after he was arrested for staging a protest against the
purchase of two bullet proof cars at the rate of N255million for the
Minister of Aviation, Ms. Stella Oduah, the Federal Capital
Territory(FCT) Police Command, has again re-arrested Hon.Dino Melaye.
Melaye is the Executive Secretary of Anti-Corruption Network, a non-governmental organisation. He was apprehended by a team of heavily-armed security operatives in Abuja on Monday.
It was gathered that the former lawmaker was taken to the FCT Police
Command after his arrest by a Special Team led by one Patrick Ejoh, an
Assistant Superintendent of Police.
The Police Public relations officer, PPRO, Daniels Altine, when contacted did not state if Dino was in their custody or not.
He said, “Dino Melaye was invited as a result of a petition written against him. Following Police procedure, when a petition is written against someone, the person is usually invited for questioning”.
In the Warrant of Arrest, the police officers, who arrived Melaye’s office at about 5.20 p.m., said they were arresting him for “criminal intimidation and threat to life.”
