Ojukwu relatives accuse Bianca of greed

Bianca Ojukwu
Aggrieved family members of the late Chief Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu have accused Ambassador Bianca Ojukwu, wife of the late Ikemba of being unnecessarily greedy by claiming almost all the assets of the deceased.

In a statement of defence presented before a Lagos High Court, Igbosere, the Ojukwu Transport Limited and seven other family members had asked Bianca to present concrete proofs regarding her claims in the suit which she filed on behalf of her little children in an effort to secure for them their father’s assets.

Afamefuna and Nwachukwu , Bianca’s two sons are the claimants on record in the suit numbered, LD/1539/2012.

The first defendant in the suit is the disputed property, Ojukwu Transport Limited, Other defendants are Prof. Joseph Ojukwu, Emmanuel Ojukwu, Lotanna Ojukwu, Dr. Patrick Ojukwu, Mr. Edward Ojukwu, Lota Ojukwu and Mrs. Massey Udegbe.

Debunking the allegation of the claimants, the family said 12 years prior to the death of the deceased, he (Ojukwu) had moved to Enugu State and never lived in any of the property before he died.

Their statement of defence read, “The property belongs to the first defendant (Ojukwu Transport Company). The fact is that the claimants’ mother, being greedy, felt she could hold onto the first defendant’s property.

“For over 12 years prior to his death, the late Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu moved to Enugu and since then had not lived at the first defendant’s property as alleged by the claimants.”

Challenging Bianca’s children to prove a point, they asked them to provide, “any agreement which their late father had from the first defendant (OTL) for him to control and/or manage the property of the first defendant.”

Bianca, the wife of the late Ikemba-Nnewi had instituted the suit on behalf of Afamefuna and Nwachukwu, asking the court to pronounce that the two children are entitled to some assets owned by the Ojukwu Transport Limited which the defendants had said was not legally right.

At the resumed hearing of the suit on Wednesday, Bianca’s counsel and her children did not appear in court; hence, Justice Funmilayo Atilade adjourned the suit till December 10.
