Teacher to face charges for allegedly murdering son
The Jigawa Police Command on Monday said it had concluded
arrangements to arraign court a 49-year-old teacher, Bello Ahmed, for
allegedly murdering his son.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr Abdu Jinjiri, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on telephone that the suspect would be charged for culpable homicide, contrary to section 222 of the panel code.
Jinjiri said the suspect was arrested on Sunday at Ganye quarters in Malam Madori Local Government Area of the state.
He said the suspect had used a wooden cooking utensil to beat his
18-year-old son, Dauda Ahmed, whom he accused of being a delinquent.
He said Dauda went into a state of coma as a result of the beating and later died at the General Hospital, Malam Madori.
“From the information gathered, the suspect was trying to punish and discipline his son over delinquency.
“Investigation into the case is still in progress, nonetheless, he will be charged to court soon,” he said. (NAN)
