Former Kastina CPC chairman dumps APC, joins PDM
Former chairman of the defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC)
in Katsina State, Dr. Yusha’u Armaya’u has joined the Peoples Democratic
Movement (PDM).
He declared his interest for the newly-registered party after having considered his place and that of his supporters in the party, concluding that they now have no confidence in the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In an interview with Daily Trust, Armaya’u alleged that there was a total absence of internal democracy in the APC.
“We are going to meet in the APC the same people that have scuttled internal democracy and created internal crisis in the debunked CPC in Katsina,” he said.
“Everybody is aware of Katsina CPC crisis that emanated from the 2011 general elections. We have succeeded in winning three senatorial seats and 12 House of Representatives seats, but some leaders of the CPC in the state substituted our gubernatorial candidate and thereafter the internal crisis begun.”
He predicted that similar problem would come up in Katsina chapter of
the party, as the same people are the present leaders of APC in the
state.
“We believe that in the PDM, we can fulfil our political ambitions. It is a political party that had its root in Katsina; we knew its founders and their political capabilities and we are confident that, together we can achieve our political dreams.”
The politician decried that the CPC which was meant to strengthen the nation’s politics was taken over by some leaders who used its ideologies for their political interest.
DailyPost gathered that members of the defunct CPC that joined the PDM include the 25 members of the dissolved executives, 34 party local governments’ chairmen and 361 ward chairmen.
