Mass exodus hits PDP as 63 members defect to APC in Borno

Barely two weeks after 32 leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, decamped to the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Borno State, DailyPost has again learnt that over thirty campaign officials of the PDP, under the Mohammed Goni, 2011 Governorship Campaign organisation have dumped the party.

The 63 members of the ruling party who defected on separate days and in three groups, said they moved to the APC because of Governor Kashim Shettima’s persuasive style of governance; his good management of the Boko Haram crisis and his landmark achievements since he assumed office.

The Secretary of the Planning and Strategy in Mohammed Goni Campaign organization, Engineer Kabir Wanori, who led the latest defectors to the Government House at the weekend, said they have since realized that no “true Borno man has business working for the PDP, given the manner in which the PDP- led Federal Government showed lackadaisical attitude in assisting the state in the darkest days of the Boko Haram insurgency”

The group referred to the fact that the PDP- led Federal Government under President Goodluck Jonathan, “gave Borno a paltry sum of N200million as relief, after having given over N20billion to Cross River over Bakassi and N3 billion to actors in the Nigerian film industry called Nollywood, whereas Borno’s problem is about life and death, as well as destruction of property worth billions of naira”.

They also handed Shettima a promotional audio tape with songs composed to spread the good messages of his efforts

Reacting, Governor Kashim Shettima told the new APC members that they will not be regarded as decampees, because they came at the formation level of the APC.
