The Super Cup is not about me and Guardiola – Mourinho

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has insisted that Friday’s Super Cup match against Bayern Munich, is not an opportunity to prove his superiority over Pep Guardiola.
Both managers went head to head several times, when Mourinho was in charge of Real Madrid and Guardiola coached Barcelona. In all those games, the Spaniard only lost three times in 15 games against Mourinho.
“Your statistics are wrong, very wrong, but I don’t’ want to discuss that because it’s not relevant,” he bristled when confronted with his head-to-head numbers against Guardiola.
“Go there and see what happened with Inter, the league of the records in Spain, the King Cup in Spain, the Super Cup in Spain, so you are very wrong. But it’s not me against him, it’s club against club.
“It’s not about me and Pep, it’s about Chelsea and Bayern Munich. Pep is not European champion and I’m not Europa League champion. We just coach here now, so it’s not about us.”
When asked what the Bundesliga champions’ biggest strength was, Mourinho said: “Bayern’s strength is the team,” he added. “The team is a team of players in the best moment of their career.
“All of them very, very, experienced – I think their average age is 27, 28 – year after year in the best competitions with their club and the national team.
“They also come from a season where they were the perfect team, because only perfect teams can win the treble.
“I played against Bayern many times, sometimes in the last years, others a long time ago. It doesn’t matter the system or the player, it’s always a powerful team and a big club.”

We are not part of Lagos APC – APGA

The All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) in Lagos, has dissociated itself from the state chapter of the All Progressive Congress (APC). It also warned members not to romance any other political party, saying such act would attract sanctions. The party in a statement issued and signed by its State Publicity Secretary, Sanjo Olawuyi, on Wednesday, said the Lagos State Chapter of APGA, under the leadership of Edwin Izuchukwu, is not in any alliance with the newly registered APC, stressing that it has total confidence in the leadership of Victor Umeh, National Chairman of the party. APGA further announced that it has suspended three members of the fold with immediate effect for defecting to the APC. ASUU strike update: Don’t send your children to school, we won’t teach them – Lecturers warn parents

The battle between the Federal Government and the members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has attained a new intensity following a 7-day ultimatum issued by the Presidency. Some of the striking lecturers have remained adamant despite the obvious waning in the resolve of their members evidenced by the withdrawing of some universities from the strike. The academic body has taken things even further by warning parents not to allow their wards resume in schools to avoid risking the lives of their children. Vanguard  reports : The Presidency, on its part accused ASUU leaders of treachery and warned the university lecturers not to dare the resolve of government to carry out its threat to sack them if they failed to resume.
