PDP new faction asks court to sack Bamaga Tukur-led faction

A faction the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, that emerged on Saturday, has prayed a Lagos High Court to sack the Bamanga Tukur-led executive.
A statement by the National Secretary of the new faction, Olagunsoye Oyinlola, said his camp’s decision was a demonstration of its determination “to effect a change and stem the slide of the PDP”.
Plaintiffs in the case to include Oyinlola, factional chairman, Abubakar Kawu Baraje, and factional Deputy National Chairman, Sam Sam Jaja.
The factional scribe is asking the court to restrain chairman of the other faction, Bamanga Tukur, its Deputy Chairman, Uche Secondus, Women Leader, Kema Chikwe, and Publicity Secretary, Olisah Metuh and others from parading themselves as members of the national executive of the party.
They also sought a motion exparte asking for leave to serve the defendants outside the jurisdiction of the court.
The statement noted that the court in its ruling, granted the plaintiffs leave to serve the defendants in their various locations.
On illegality of the Tukur-led executive as members of the National Executive Committee of the party, the court ruled that there was no urgency as to the fact of who should hold what office and directed both parties to maintain the status quo.

We are not part of Lagos APC – APGA

The All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) in Lagos, has dissociated itself from the state chapter of the All Progressive Congress (APC). It also warned members not to romance any other political party, saying such act would attract sanctions. The party in a statement issued and signed by its State Publicity Secretary, Sanjo Olawuyi, on Wednesday, said the Lagos State Chapter of APGA, under the leadership of Edwin Izuchukwu, is not in any alliance with the newly registered APC, stressing that it has total confidence in the leadership of Victor Umeh, National Chairman of the party. ASUU strike update: Don’t send your children to school, we won’t teach them – Lecturers warn parents

The battle between the Federal Government and the members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has attained a new intensity following a 7-day ultimatum issued by the Presidency. Some of the striking lecturers have remained adamant despite the obvious waning in the resolve of their members evidenced by the withdrawing of some universities from the strike. The academic body has taken things even further by warning parents not to allow their wards resume in schools to avoid risking the lives of their children.
