(CNN) -- Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 went down over the southern Indian Ocean, Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak said Monday, citing a new analysis of satellite data by a British satellite company and accident investigators. The announcement appeared to rule out the possibility that anyone could have survived whatever happened to the aircraft, which vanished more than two weeks ago with 239 people aboard. The House of Representatives yesterday passed a resolution to probe the expenditures of the Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs Diezani Alison-Maduekwe, on a private jet she allegedly charters for private use and maintains with public funds. According to the sponsor of the bill, Hon Samuel Adejare who represents Lagos State, the minister maintains the jet with 500,000euros or N130 million monthly "Thus, in the last two years, the minister has committed at least N3.120bn to maintaining the private jet, which is used solely for her personal needs and those of her immediate family, which is an appalling act"he said. He said the frequent use of the Jet by the Minister and her family members has caused an estimated N10billion to be spent on it for maintenance, fuel, payment of crew members, hanger rentage and others. President Goodluck Jonathan on Thursday warned politicians against using inciting words on fellow politicians. Jonathan handed the warning yesterday in Katsina while inaugurating the three-lane 48km Katsina Ring Road, constructed by the state government. He said, “Politics is all about development. It is not about insulting ourselves and shouting in newspapers. U.S investigators believe that the missing Malaysian Airlines Flight 370 communication system were shut off manually and that the plane flew for at least 5 more hours after it dropped off the radar based on analysis of signals sent by the jet's satellite communication link.  U.S counterterrorism officials are pursuing the possibility that a pilot or someone else on board the plane may have diverted it toward an undisclosed location after intentionally turning off the jetliner's transponders to avoid radar detection, according to one person tracking the probe. Gunmen have shot and kidnapped one of  Wazobia FM Presenters in Port Harcourt. The Presenter is popularly known as Akas Baba.   His wife, Candy Akatakpo confirmed the incident saying her husband was attacked at about 2am today at his Rumuekini residence in Port Harcourt in the presence of his family.   Mrs. Akatakpo said Akas Baba whose real name is Anthony Akatakpo was shot on his leg and whisked away by one of his attackers in a Mitsubishi Endeavor SUV.   The early morning broadcast sent out reads thus:   “If you have any information that could help secure his release, please contact the nearest Police station . I was watching the Bayern and Arsenal game when a friend of my, who happens to be an artiste (James Blink) called me to report this unfortunate scene last night. He said i should try as much as possible to get through to radio stations like Naijafm 102.7 so that they can pass the information of the incident to NEMA. I was able to get through to an OAP, Ifektive baba(who was on air then) of Naijafm 102.7 around 10:40pm through the studio line to report the capsized boat incident and i believed he alerted the agencies. But unfortunately, before they got to the scene of the incident, a whole lot of Nigerians were dead already. Please, lets try as much as possible to learn how to swim because you can never tell when that your skill(s) of swimming will work for you. May the souls of those who lost their lives rest in peace. 12 persons have been confirmed dead and 6 others rescued after a boat capsized Tuesday night in Lagos, according to emergency rescue officials. The incident occured at the 4th Avenue, opposite 41 Road in Festac at about 7:30 PM on Tuesday. The General Manager of LASEMA, Femi Oke-Osanyintolu, told Channels Television that six people had been rescued from the boat and were receiving treatment at the Lagos State Teaching Hospital, free of charge. He also said 11 bodies were recovered from the scene on Tuesday and one body was found on Wednesday morning. The corpses were taken to Yaba Mortuary for examination. NEMA had released the total number of bodies recovered as 13 but Oke-Osanyintolu insisted that the federal government agency was not represented at the scene on Tuesday.

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal, yesterday called on the Federal Government to strengthen its fight against the Boko Haram sect.
