Supreme Court upholds Mimiko’s victory
The Supreme court sitting in Abuja, today dashed the hope of Chief Olusola Oke of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) candidate, Chief Rotimi Akeredolu of governing Ondo state, as it upheld the Dr Olusegun Mimiko’s re-election under the platform of Labour Party, LP.
According to the Presiding Judge, Justice Murktar, only two out of the five issues for determination in Akeredolu’s appeal are valid.
He added that the appellant failed to prove beyond reasonable doubt criminal allegation of connivance in injection of names.
Murktar agreed with the tribunal court that the preparation was a pre-election matter but the use of the alleged manipulated register was an election matter.
