National conference: We have no hidden agenda – FG

The Federal Government has dismissed media reports that there’s a hidden agenda behind the proposed national conference.

Information Minister, Labaran Maku, made this assertion on Tuesday in Abuja, during the monthly world News Conference, aimed at assessing the performance of the nation’s economy.

imageAccording to Maku, the method adopted by President Jonathan in the planning of the conference was an indication that the he (Jonathan) meant well for the country.

Maku also refuted the claims that the president wanted to use the national conference to boost his chances of re-election in 2015.

He stressed that Jonathan’s achievements would determine his destiny rather than the outcome of the conference.

Maku said those alleging that the conference would lead to national disintegration were against the genuine progress of the country.

He further called on Nigerians to support President Jonathan to realize the aim of the conference as well as other activities that would ensure the progress of the nation.
