Heavy security in Port Harcourt ahead of Jonathan’s mother-in-law’s funeral

All is now set for the final journey of Nigeria’s First Lady’s mother, Madam Charity Fyneface Oba, whose demise occurred on July 22, 2013.

To give befitting funeral rites to his mother-in-law, the President, Dr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan is expected in Port Harcourt for the burial.

The burial activities, which will commence today (Thursday), with a service of songs at the Port Harcourt Polo Club, GRA Phase 2, will be rounded off on Friday, November 1, 2013, with funeral service at the National Field, Okrika, followed by interment at her husband’s compound at Ambemembiri, Okrika, and reception later for guests at the palace of His Royal Highness, Late Sir S. P.U. Ogan, the Amayanabo of Okrika.

In the meantime, the Rivers State Police Command said there is heavy deployment of security personnel in and around Port Harcourt for the burial.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Ahmad Mohammad confirmed this to journalists in Port Harcourt.

He also said the police had deployed gun-boats to the water-ways and that other security apparatus had been provided to ensure hitch-free funeral.

“The Rivers State police command is very ready for the funeral of the foster mother of the wife of the President, Dame Patience Jonathan.

“If you can take your time and visit Okrika, there is high deployment of policemen there in other to ensure there is sanity on the road and water-ways”.
