Nigerian Senate passes Whistleblower Protection Bill

The Nigerian Senate on Wednesday passed the Whistleblower Protection Bill which seeks to protect whistleblowers from discrimination from employees or employers.
The President of the Senate Bukola Sarakimade the announcement on his official Twitter account, saying the Senate is committed to fighting corruption in the country.
The caption read:
Today, @NGRSenate passed the Whistleblower Protection Bill. We will remain committed in the fight against Corruption. #PromiseKept
Besides protection from discrimination in the workplace, the bill also clarifies the persons who are eligible to make a disclosure of improper conduct and the procedure of disclosing the information.

Mixed Reactions Trail New PDP, APC Merger

  Nigerian lawmakers have made diverse comments on the merger of the new Peoples Democratic Party (nPDP) and the All Progressives Alliance (APC), a development expected to generated unexpected debates related to its consequences in the plenaries of the upper and lower chambers. The merger will be a source of worry for lawmakers, as they will have to consider the legal implications if they decide to move with the governors of the states they represent. The law may not have implications on the governor but on a lawmaker, the individual stands a possibility of losing his seat. 2015: Jonathan posters flood Kwara, say he is the best

Few months after controversies trailed the display of President Goodluck Jonathan 2015 campaign posters in some parts of the country, especially on the streets of Abuja, a group, “Foundation for Empowerment and Uniting Nigerian Youth” has flooded the streets of Ilorin, Kwara State capital with the President’s campaign posters, canvassing for his 2015 presidential election. It was observed that the campaign posters were spotted at strategic locations in Ilorin Central Muslim Praying Ground and some other locations in the state capital. Some of the posters were pasted on walls along the New Yidi Road and some other places in the metropolis. The posters bear the picture of Jonathan, the map of Nigeria and a young man.
