Pioneer Director-General of Budget Monitoring and Price Intelligence Unit (Due Process Unit), Dr Oby Ezekwesili, has called on Nigerian leaders to take seriously, the corruption charges levelled against Nigeria by economy monitoring organisations, both nationally and internationally. She spoke at a forum on leadership organised by the Day Star Christian Centre in Lagos on Wednesday. According to her, if the current administration claims to be fighting corruption and rating bodies still scores the country high in graft, it means no significant progress had been made in the fight against the menace. Asari Dokubo regains freedom, flown to Abuja
Leader of the Niger Delta People’s Volunteer Force, Alhaji Mujahid Dokubo-Asari, who was arrested on Wednesday in Cotonou, Benin Republic, has finally regained his freedom. The ex-militant was freed after President Goodluck Jonathan personally contacted Beninoise President Yayi Boni, on his behalf. Festus Keyamo, a civil rights activist and personal attorney to Dokubo also confirmed his freedom. Insiders stated that President Jonathan deployed a jet to fly him to Abuja a few hours after his release. Recall that Festus Keyamo had earlier petitioned President Goodluck Jonathan on November 27, 2013, Wednesday, calling for his direct intervention in ensuring the freedom of the former militant. “We want to emphasis that Alhaji Dokubo-Asari, even though a Nigerian, carries on legitimate business and has been living partly in Benin Republic for many years now.
