A man is suing Macdonalds for $1.5million for giving him only one napkin and refusing to give him another when he asked for it. Will it happen in Nigeria? If i hear. lol   TMZ reports McDonalds has made a new golden arch enemy - a California man is suing the company for $1.5million... because he says he only got one napkin with his meal. Webster Lucas claims he was stiffed on napkins at the Mickey D's in Pacoima, CA on January 29th -- after ordering a Quarter Pounder Deluxe - and when he went up to the counter to ask for more, he was rudely rebuffed by the manager ... who insisted he already got some. According to his lawsuit, Lucas, who is black, then retorted, "I should have went to eat at the Jack-in-the-Box because I didn't come here to argue over napkins. I came here to eat."That's when Lucas says things got racist -- claiming the manager (a Mexican-American) mumbled something about "you people."Lucas subsequently emailed the g

Image
Manchester United striker Robin van Persie, has admitted that his team-mates are making it “more difficult” for him to find space and this has made him adjust his game at his own expense. The Dutchman was speaking after United were beaten 2-0 by Olympiakos in the Champions League on Tuesday. Van Persie, who missed a golden opportunity to grab an away goal, hinted that he was struggling under David Moyes. “Sometimes I try to find ways to do more but in the areas I wanted to play, my team-mates were often there. This makes it difficult for me,” Van Persie told NOS. “Then I have to change my tactics to suit my team-mates, and play outside my zone. It’s a pity. “We played too slow and could therefore create little. “I rushed that shot. That’s a shame because I don’t get a lot of chances so when you get one, you have to score.” Inspite of everything, the former Arsenal captain refused to blame Moyes for United’s poor performances thi

Sanusi’s suspension: Nigerian government is too weak to tackle corruption – New York Times

Image
As reactions continue to trail the suspension of former Central Bank Governor, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, American newspaper, the New York Times has joined the league of other people to analyze and condemn the development. In its analysis on Friday, the paper says the development shows that Nigerian government under the leadership of President Goodluck Jonathan was too weak to tackle corruption acting deep into the nation’s economy. The analysis below: President Goodluck Jonathan of Nigeria removed the governor of the country’s central bank from his post on Thursday, after the bank governor repeatedly charged that billions of dollars in oil revenue owed to the treasury was missing. The dismissal of the bank governor, Lamido Sanusi, was seen as further evidence of the Nigerian government’s weakening resolve in tackling widespread corruption, a problem that has plagued the country since independence, analysts said. Mr. Sanusi’s removal was g

“Jesus, I don’t want to end up in prison” – Banker’s husband breaks down after bagging life sentence

Image
After three years of legal tussle, justice eventually came the way of Titlayo, a female banker who was gruesomely murdered by her husband, Akolade Arowolo on June 24, 2011 after series of domestic brawls. Justice Lateefat Okunnu of the Lagos High Court, Ikeja yesterday sentenced Arowolo to death after finding him guilty of murder. Her murder raised series of questions on the minds of right thinking individuals, especially those who believe in the sanctity of marriage before the Friday’s verdict by the court. Justice Okunnu in the judgment that lasted for three hours held that, although there were no eyewitnesses to the heinous crime, the testimony of the forensic pathologist was sufficient to nail the convict. Relying on section 316 of the Criminal Code of Lagos, the court identified three issues for determination: whether it was the act of commission or omission of the convict which resulted in the death and whether the defendant

In a statement issued in Abuja by the Senior Special Assistant on Public Affairs, Doyin Okupe, the presidency denied allegations of witch-hunt against Sanusi over his disclosure that the NNPC did not remit proceeds of oil sales to the federation Account. “This action of Mr President is coming after a painstaking appraisal and investigation of all issues involved”, he said. “The fact that this has occurred at the same period that Mr. Sanusi accused the NNPC of non- remittance of 20 billio

Jonathan does not require National Assembly approval to suspend Sanusi – Ozekhome

President Goodluck Jonathan did not breach the constitution in suspending Sanusi Lamido Sanusi as Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). This is according to Constitutional lawyer and Human Rights Activist, Mike Ozekhome. He stated this yesterday in Abuja in reaction to the uproar the sack had generated. “Constitutionally and legally, what President Jonathan did was correct. He does not require the consent of the National Assembly to do so. “Anyone who is an employee has to know that he is answerable to his employer. You cannot bite the finger that feeds you. “The Nigerian Constitution and the CBN Act give the President the authority to suspend or remove the Governor of the CBN,” he said. Ozekhome alleged that Sanusi deviated from his primary duty as head of the apex bank and made provocative and highly derogatory statements even about the monetary policies of Nigeria. “A governor of a Central Bank in any part of the world should be seen and not heard. “W

Court restrains Federal Government from arresting Sanusi

A Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos, yesterday granted an order restraining the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF), Mohammed Adoke; Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mohammed Abubakar; the State Security Service (SSS); and all agencies of the Federal Government from arresting and detaining suspended Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mallam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi. In his ruling, Justice Buba Ibrahim said status quo be maintained pending the determination of a fundamental human rights suit Sanusi filed. He had complained that he was unlawfully arrested, detained, and had his passport seized on Thursday. According to him, the actions were in violation of his right to personal liberty, freedom of movement, and right to dignity of human person, as guaranteed under Sections 34, 35 and 41 of the 1999 Constitution. Former Attorney-general of Lagos State, Professor Yemi Osinbajo (SAN) and Kola Awodein (SAN), are hold
