The end of PDP has finally come – CNPP
The Conference of Nigerian Political Parties, CNPP, has described the
ongoing crisis tearing the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, apart
as an indication that the end has finally come for the acclaimed largest
party in Africa.
Baba Agan, Benue State chairman of the CNPP, yesterday, in Makurdi, the state capital said the current power-tussle in the PDP is, “God’s divine intervention to liberate the ordinary Nigerian from long years of deprivation, repression and maladministration by a class that has held Nigerians captive.”
According to him, “What we are seeing in the acclaimed biggest party in Africa is a clear indication that it is only God that rules in the affairs of men. Nigerians are suffering in the midst of plenty and those ruling us have not taken it upon themselves to assiduously address these pains the people are living with.
“We daily hear of so much money coming into the country, yet it has not translated to a better condition of living for the ordinary man in the streets and you think God is happy?
“We are not saying that those leading the revolt within the party are better, but the laud celebration that greeted their action from Nigerians clearly shows that the people are happy with the steps they have taken.
“Nigerians are going through suffocating hardship and our leaders are
living in affluence without regards for the feelings of the people, but
with this development there could be respite at the end of the day.
Agan further said, “You must understand that if those at the helm of affairs are doing well, majority of Nigerians would have kicked against the revolt within the party; but that is not the case at the moment; look at what is happening in Rivers and Taraba states and elsewhere and you’ll begin to ask yourself some basic questions. I recall vividly that there was a time a barrel of crude oil sold at the international market for as low as $20 and Nigerians never faced the kind of hardship they are confronted with today.
“It clearly shows that the those at the helm of affairs and currently in control of the PDP have lost touch with the people and fully legalized corruption in Nigeria and by so doing made us a mockery before the international community. I urge our leaders to visit neighbouring country like Ghana, which was several years behind Nigeria in terms of development. But go there today and you will lament our situation in this country, all because of bad leadership and they think that God will not hear the cry of the masses. The truth is that the end of PDP has finally come,” he added.
