“Plateau people should learn to show love, not nurse grudges against one another” – General Ayoola

The outgoing Commander of the Special Task Force (STF) responsible for the maintenance of peace in Plateau State, Major General Henry Ayoola, has urged citizens of the State to eschew hatred by learning to show love to one another as against engaging in endless squabble.
The STF Commander, who has been redeployed to the Defence Headquarters as Chief of Research and Development after having served as the STF Commander for 15 months, disclosed this at a thanksgiving service held in his honour, at the Parliament Church, Dogon Karfe, Jos.
According to him, “Plateau has crossed over to a new level; moving from conflict era to post-conflict era of peace, greatness and prosperity.
“But if Plateau citizens want to get to the right destination of permanent peace and prosperity, they should learn to show love and nurse no grudges against one another.
Adding that, “The secret behind the peace achieved on the plateau so far lies in the co-operation by citizens and government of plateau
state. We did it all together with God behind us.
He maintained that, “My service in Jos was like a Divine call to duty and I was just an instrument in the hands of God. All my actions and inactions whether good or bad, resulted from my obedience to Divine instructions.
All that Plateau went through during the conflict era was a Divine course of achieving greatness and prosperity in the life of the State
and I can see the State leaping to greatness soon.
“The prevailing peace been enjoyed on the Plateau is not what we desire for plateau, this is just the beginning, not the destination,
the destination is permanent peace”, he stressed.
In his remarks, Governor Jonah Jang said, “Plateau is full of gratitude to the service rendered by the outgoing commander and the
Federal Ministry of Defence.
The Governor, who was represented at the occasion by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Shedrach Best, added that, “Gen Ayoola came in at the most challenging moment of the State, when suicide attacks on Churches were high. But the state is pleased today that we have moved to the era of peace.
Assuring that, “Truly, peace has return to Jos, as recent killings reported on the Plateau was not crises but activities of criminals”.
