Fani-Kayode bows to lawsuit threat, withdraws “intimate relationship” comment about Bianca Ojukwu
Seven
days after Bianca Ojukwu vowed to drag Femi Fani-Kayode to court if he
fails to retract his ‘libelous publication’ against her, the former
Aviation Minister has withdrawn the controversial comment.
Fani-Kayode in a statement through his lawyer, Rotimi Akinola, Thursday, accepted that he erred by making such comment, but said it was “bizarre, absurd and inexplicable” for Bianca to have claimed they never met in the past.
“As our client said earlier through his press secretary, some of the
words he used to describe his friendship with Ambassador Ojukwu in his
article titled ”A Word For Those Who Call Me A Tribalist” were
indiscreet,” Mr. Fani-Kayode’s lawyer said in the statement.
“He hereby withdraws those words,” he added.
The former Aviation minister in a recent article, entitled, ”A Word For Those Who Call Me A Tribalist” claimed to have met and dated Bianca when she was still a spinster at the Cambridge College where they both had an intimate affair before she eventually met the late Biafran warlord, Ojukwu.
