17 PDP officials defect to APC in Borno

Barely one week after 15 state executive members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, defected to the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Borno State, another set of seventeen officials of the party in Hawul Local Government Area, one of PDP’s strongholds in the state, have also dumped the party to join the APC.
The officials said it was as a result of the persuasive and inspiring leadership qualities exhibited by Governor Kashim Shettima.

The seventeen officials comprise 8 executives and chairmen of 9 out of 12 wards in the council with the defectors led by the deputy chairman of the party in Hawul Local Government, a place the PDP heavily relied on to gather the most of its votes from in previous elections.

The former PDP leaders include Alh. Ali Asuwa-Deputy Chairman; Adamu I Dibal- Youth Leader; Baba Hema-Treasurer; Alh. Zubairu Birma Zange- P.R.O; Shuaibu Mamman- Legal Adviser; Alh. Adamu Gwanga- party Elder and Forum Chairman (south); Halidu Y. Mshelizah- Auditor, Alh. Abdullahi Lakshari- Ex-fficio as well as chairmen of nine PDP wards: Shaffa, PubaLokoja VIdau, Kwajafa, Hizhe- Bwala, Pama, Kida, Marama/Kidang, Gwangzang and Kwaya-Bura ward.

When the officials paid a visit to Governor Kashim Shettima at the Government House to declare their political shift, the Vice Chairman, Ali Asuwa said they were amazed by the manner in which the Governor had managed the security situation in Borno State while treating every citizen with so much respect and without any form of discrimination irrespective of political affiliation.

Asuwa said that no true Borno man or woman had a good reason to work against Governor Shettima and hence their decision to join the APC so that they could contribute to rapid developmental efforts being put in place.

Youth leader, Adamu I. Dibal said he was attracted by the projects spread in Hawul Local Government Area, especially the transformation of schools in major towns like Marama where he hails from, in addition to rebirth of agriculture, healthcare, provision of roads and massive jobs creation initiatives of the government.
